FLEXCO® Meets New GSA Purchasing Rules after Earning NSF 332 Certification by SCS Global Services
FLEXCO®, a manufacturer of resilient flooring products such as rubber and vinyl tile and tread, wall base and adhesives, joined the growing ranks of companies whose products have been certified by SCS Global Services (SCS) to meet the Sustainability Assessment Standard for Resilient Flooring (NSF/ANSI 332). Based on this certification, the entire line of FLEXCO products already recognized under the Resilient Floor Covering Institute's FloorScore® program also qualify under the new U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) purchasing requirement (GSA Facilities Standards for the Public Buildings Service, P100).

Among the FLEXCO brands certified under the NSF/ANSI 332 standard were Appeal™ Vinyl Tile, Contract™ Vinyl Tile, Health Design™ Vinyl Tile, SpexTones™ Rubber Tile, Radial® Rubber Tile, Repel™ Rubber Flooring and Logic™ Vinyl Tile. Also recognized was Tuflex® Force® Recycled Rubber Tile, which achieved NSF/ANSI 332 'Silver' level certification.
"Certification assures that FLEXCO's products are firmly on the path toward sustainability, as defined under the NSF/ANSI 332 standard," said Stowe Hartridge-Beam, SCS' Managing Director of Environmental Certification Services.
The NSF/ANSI 332 standard is used to assess the environmental performance and sustainability attributes of resilient flooring products, then track changes over time to the sustainability profiles of these products. Products are measured in five key areas: product design, manufacturing, long-term value, corporate governance and innovation, and scored on a 100-point scale. Products may be recognized at the Conformant, Silver, Gold and Platinum levels, depending on the number of points earned. Under the new GSA requirement, resilient flooring products purchased and installed for GSA leased and owned buildings must achieve NSF/ANSI 332 "Conformant" level certification or higher.
"NSF 332 certification has proven to be a good vehicle for identifying a clear path for continuous improvement," said Christopher Iannantuono, Manager – Quality Assurance for Roppe Holding Company, which owns FLEXCO. "The third-party certification review conducted by SCS's competent staff helped to further nurture this evolving culture within the company."
